Soft Pretzel Sticks with Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce

Whip up quick and easy homemade pretzel sticks for a soft and delicious snack in under 2 hours!
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise
  • 0.25 cup Dijon mustard
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup warm water (100 to 110 degrees F)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 5 quarts water
  • 0.25 cup baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • coarse sea salt to taste
Instructions:
  • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, and yellow mustard, and chill in the refrigerator as you make the pretzel sticks.
  • In a small bowl, combine yeast and brown sugar. Add warm water and whisk until sugar dissolves. Allow the mixture to stand until it becomes foamy, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Combine flour and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer with a dough hook. Add canola oil and slowly pour in the yeast mixture while kneading until smooth and silky, about 4 to 5 minutes. If the dough is too sticky, incorporate more flour as needed.
  • Form dough into a ball and place it in a generously greased bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise until doubled in size, approximately 45 minutes.
  • Gently deflate the dough and transfer to a lightly floured surface. Shape into a rectangle and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 7-inch stick. Arrange on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and allow to rest uncovered for approximately 25 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 450°F (230°C).
  • Fill a large, deep pot with 5 quarts of water and stir in baking soda. Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat to medium. Place the pretzel sticks in the simmering water in batches for 30 seconds, flipping them after 15 seconds. Remove from water and allow to drain on paper towels.
  • Return the sticks to the baking sheet. Lightly brush with butter and sprinkle with coarse sea salt for extra flavor.
  • Bake until golden brown in the preheated oven for 7 to 10 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature with the honey mustard dipping sauce.
