Experience the rich history and flavors of South Africa with this Cape Malay inspired side dish. Perfectly complements a variety of meats, especially venison and corned beef tongue. Pair with Bobotie for a complete and satisfying meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground turmeric
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup black raisins
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2.5 cups water
Instructions:
  • Combine rice, salt, turmeric, sugar, cinnamon, raisins, butter, and water in a saucepan. Boil uncovered. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-30 minutes until rice is fluffy and water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork and keep warm until serving.
