Festive mulled wine made easy with ginger, brandy, and a slow cooker for cozy holiday gatherings.
Ingredients:
  • 1 orange
  • 15 whole cloves
  • 1 750 ml bottle red wine (inexpensive Cabernet or Malbec)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (turbinado is nice)
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 cup brandy
Instructions:
  • Press the cloves into the orange to infuse its flavor, then slice the orange into half circles. This method ensures no loose cloves in your final dish. Alternatively, slice the orange into half circles and add them along with the cloves to the wine separately.
  • Combine all the ingredients in a pot or slow cooker.
  • Infuse the wine: Gently simmer the wine on the stovetop for 20–25 minutes over medium-low heat or in a slow cooker on low for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally to meld flavors and dissolve sugar. The mulled wine is ready when it's fragrant, spiced, and heated through without reaching boiling point. Serve piping hot and savor the flavors!
