Spicy green beans with sweet caramelized onions, ready in 25 minutes.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 large white onion, thinly sliced (1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions:
  • Heat oil and sugar in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Add onion and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring frequently, until tender and light golden brown. Remove onion from skillet.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the same skillet. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the beans are crisp-tender. Then, stir in the onion and cook until thoroughly heated.
