Spicy tuna fish cakes with canned tuna, dried spices, onion, and mashed potato binder, fried to crispy perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 1 large potato, peeled and cubed
  • 4 (3 ounce) cans tuna, drained
  • 0.25 cup chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon dry breadcrumbs, or as needed
  • 1.5 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions:
  • In a small pot, cover potato with salted water and boil until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and let steam in the pot for 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to a large bowl and mash using a potato masher or fork.
  • Combine tuna, onion, egg, mustard, bread crumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined. Form the mixture into 8 equal-sized tuna patties.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil until shimmering. Cook tuna patties until golden and crispy, about 3 minutes per side.
