Create Halloween spiderweb cupcakes with simple, spooky flair.
Ingredients:
  • 150g butter, at room temperature
  • 40.00 gm caster sugar
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 150g (1 cup) self-raising flour, sifted
  • 70g (1/2 cup) cornflour, sifted
  • 160ml (2/3 cup) milk
  • 350g pkt Queen Butter Cream Icing
  • 80-100ml milk, extra
  • Orange and black food colouring, to tint
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C (160C fan forced) and prepare a muffin pan by lining twelve 80ml (1/3 cup) portions with paper cases.
  • In a large bowl, use electric beaters to cream together butter, sugar, and honey until pale and creamy. Mix in vanilla until well combined. Then, add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Gently blend in flours and milk in separate additions with a metal spoon until the batter is just smooth. Divide the batter among paper cases, smoothing the tops. Bake until light golden, for about 20-25 minutes. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Trim the tops of the cakes.
  • Transfer the icing to a bowl and mix in a splash of milk until it reaches a spreadable consistency. Set aside 2 tablespoons of the plain icing. Add a touch of orange food coloring to the remaining icing and mix well. Lastly, add a hint of black food coloring to the reserved icing and mix until evenly blended.
  • Place the black icing into a small sealable plastic bag and snip off the corner. Cover each cupcake with a layer of orange icing. Pipe concentric circles of black icing on top. Use a wooden skewer to create a web pattern by dragging through the icing from the center. Repeat for all cupcakes and allow them to set.
