Delicious slow cooker split pea soup with smoked turkey, carrots, and potatoes, perfect for chilly days.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound dried split peas
  • 5 cups water, or more if needed
  • 3 pounds smoked turkey legs
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1.5 cups chopped carrot
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 bay leaves
Instructions:
  • Add split peas, water, smoked turkey legs, chicken broth, carrot, celery, potatoes, onion, garlic powder, oregano, and bay leaves to a slow cooker. Cook on Low for 4 to 5 hours until peas are tender and soup is thickened. Remember to remove bay leaves before serving.
