Tangy orange marmalade-glazed wings with a kick of sambal oelek and aromatic spices, oven-baked to crispy perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (3 pound) bag chicken wings, tips removed
  • 1 cup low-sugar orange marmalade
  • 4 teaspoons Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sambal oelek, or to taste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon snipped fresh chives
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions:
  • Position one oven rack in the center and the other rack about 6 inches from the heat source. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a sheet pan with aluminum foil.
  • Pat dry the chicken wing pieces with a paper towel and transfer them to a large resealable bag.
  • In a blender, combine orange marmalade, five-spice powder, sesame oil, avocado oil, ginger, sambal oelek, garlic, salt, and white pepper; blend until smooth. Pour the marinade into a resealable bag with the chicken wings, remove the air, and seal the bag. Massage the wings in the bag to ensure they are evenly coated with the marinade.
  • Arrange the seasoned chicken wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Place in the preheated oven on the center rack for 30 minutes, then flip and bake for an additional 30 minutes. Remove from the oven.
  • Preheat the broiler until sizzling. Broil chicken wings until golden brown, staying vigilant to prevent burning, for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove wings from the oven and top with chives and sesame seeds.
