Upgrade your green bean casserole with a savory blend of beans, onions, bacon, and cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 10 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 3 pounds trimmed fresh green beans
  • 0.25 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 0.5 cup dry bread crumbs, or to taste
  • 1.5 cups shredded Italian cheese blend
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, fry bacon until fat renders, about 5 minutes. Add onion and garlic, cook until bacon is crisp and onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Combine green beans, water, vinegar, salt, and pepper with crispy bacon; simmer until most of the liquid has evaporated, for 10 to 12 minutes. Finish by sprinkling bread crumbs and cheese on top; give a light stir.
