Indulge in rich, homemade strawberry jam on warm, buttered toast.
Ingredients:
  • 3kg strawberries, hulled, halved
  • 3kg white sugar
  • Juice from 1/2 a lemon
Instructions:
  • Start by thoroughly washing and sterilizing your jars and lids. Next, place the strawberries in a saucepan and mix in the sugar. Allow them to sit for 1-2 hours for the sugar to tenderize the fruit.
  • Pour in the juice and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the fruit is soft.
  • Separate 1/3 of the fruit and set it aside. Cook the rest of the mixture until the fruit is mostly dissolved and the jam coats the back of a spoon. Divide the reserved fruit among the jars and fill them with the jam. Let it cool, then seal with lids.
