Indulgent New York strip steaks with rich mushroom and red wine sauce – a luxurious dish for a romantic evening or a memorable gathering.
Ingredients:
  • 2 red onions, sliced
  • 1 (8 ounce) package button mushrooms, sliced
  • 6 New York strip steaks
  • 1 cup red Zinfandel wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
Instructions:
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté red onions and mushrooms until tender, for about 10 minutes. Transfer the delicious onion-mushroom mixture to a bowl.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, and ensure the skillet is evenly coated. Pat dry each steak with paper towels, season with salt and black pepper, and place them in the skillet. Cook until the outsides are browned and the inside reaches your preferred level of doneness, about 5 minutes on each side for medium. Once done, remove the steaks from the skillet.
  • Add red Zinfandel wine to skillet and deglaze, whisk in beef broth and Dijon mustard, then bring to a boil. Simmer until slightly reduced for about 5 minutes. Gradually stir in cream and let thicken for another 5 minutes. Combine mushrooms and steaks in the sauce, then serve the steaks topped with the flavorful sauce.
