Kickstart your day with delicious and simple French toast for a healthy breakfast boost!
Ingredients:
  • 12 slices French bread, 1/2 inch thick
  • 6 tablespoons fat-free soft cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup preserves or jam (any flavor)
  • 4 egg whites, 2 eggs or 1/2 cup fat-free cholesterol-free egg product, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup fat-free (skim) milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
Instructions:
  • Spread 1 tablespoon of cream cheese on one side of 6 slices of bread. Spread 2 teaspoons of preserves on one side of the remaining slices. Pair the bread slices with cream cheese and preserves together.
  • Whisk egg whites, milk, and sugar until smooth; transfer to a shallow bowl.
  • Prepare the griddle by spraying it with cooking spray and heating it to 325°F, or heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Dip both sides of the sandwich into the egg mixture. Cook the sandwiches until they are golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
