Elevate Carmelitas with Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix for a simpler, tastier treat!
Ingredients:
  • 2 pouches (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1 1/2 cups caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly coat a 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray; set it aside.
  • Combine 1 pouch of cookie mix, 1/2 cup of butter, and 1 egg in a large bowl until a dough forms. Press the dough evenly into the pan to create the crust.
  • Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until edges are lightly golden brown and set. Remove from oven and let cool.
  • Combine caramel sauce and flour in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Combine the leftover cookie mix, 1/2 cup of butter, and an egg in a large bowl until a dough forms; then set it aside.
  • Top the partially baked crust in the pan with a generous amount of chocolate chips and pecans. Gently pour the caramel mixture evenly over the top. Roll out the remaining dough into a 13x9-inch rectangle between two sheets of waxed paper. Carefully place the dough over the caramel mixture in the pan, then remove the top sheet of waxed paper.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until beautifully golden. Transfer to a cooling rack and let cool for 1 hour.
  • Chill for an additional 1 1/2 to 2 hours until firm. Cut into 24 bars by slicing into 6 rows by 4 rows.
