Kid-friendly pork dish the whole family will enjoy.
Ingredients:
  • 18.40 gm vegetable oil or peanut oil
  • 300g veal mince or lean beef mince
  • 300g pork mince
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 tsp finely grated fresh ginger
  • 1 x 230g can water chestnuts, drained, finely chopped
  • 4 green shallots, ends trimmed, finely chopped
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) oyster sauce
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) soy sauce
  • 100g bean sprouts
  • Pinch of salt
  • 12 iceberg lettuce leaves, washed, dried
Instructions:
  • In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, heat oil until shimmering. Add veal or beef mince and pork mince. Cook, continuously stirring with a wooden spoon to break up lumps, for 5 minutes until meat changes color. Stir in garlic and ginger, cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Combine the water chestnuts and green shallots in the pan and cook together for 1 minute until mixed. Next, add the oyster and soy sauces, stir well, and cook for 2 minutes until everything is thoroughly heated. Take the pan off the heat, then gently toss in the bean sprouts until they start to wilt. Taste the dish and season with salt if needed, keeping in mind the soy sauce already adds saltiness. Transfer the flavorful stir-fry to a serving bowl.
  • Arrange the lettuce leaves with the cup side up on a platter and serve right away with the mince mixture.
