Quick and vibrant King Cake using store-bought dough, colorful frosting, and sprinkles, perfect for a festive Mardi Gras celebration!
Ingredients:
  • 3 (14 ounce) cans refrigerated sweet roll dough
  • 2 (12 fluid ounce) cans creamy vanilla ready-to-spread frosting
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 2 drops green food coloring
  • 2 drops yellow food coloring
  • 1 drop red food coloring
  • 1 drop blue food coloring
  • 0.5 cup multi-colored sprinkles
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease a baking sheet.
  • Unroll and fold each strand of dough into a fat log, then shape the logs into a circle on the baking sheet, overlapping and pinching the ends together. Even out the size of the circle if needed and loosely cover with foil before baking.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes until golden brown and firm to the touch. Remember to check periodically to prevent overbaking. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Place a cake ring on a serving plate, cut a slit along the inside, and gently nestle a small plastic baby into the cake, ensuring it is fully concealed.
  • Divide the frosting equally into 4 bowls. Stir in 1 tablespoon of milk into each bowl to thin the frosting. Drizzle one bowl of frosting over the cooled cake. Add yellow food coloring to one bowl, green to another, and mix red and blue food coloring in the third bowl to create purple frosting. Drizzle the cake with the colorful frostings in your preferred pattern. Finish by dusting the cake with multi-colored sprinkles and decorating it with beads, plastic babies, curly ribbon, and other festive trinkets.
