Crispy fried plantains: a popular worldwide delicacy with a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors that everyone will love.
Ingredients:
  • 1 large yellow plantain, peeled
  • 0.125 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon reduced-fat margarine (such as Smart Balance®)
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar
  • 0.33333334326744 teaspoon light brown sugar
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon, or more to taste
Instructions:
  • Slice the plantain into three sections, then quarter each one to create twelve pieces. Sprinkle the plantain pieces with flavorful garlic powder.
  • Combine oil and margarine in a small skillet over medium heat. Fry plantains until lightly browned on each side. Season with black pepper, cook until slightly darker, then drizzle with agave syrup and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
