Effortlessly create Swiss steak by tossing beef cubes in a casserole dish and baking to perfection!
Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 lb boneless beef round steak, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup frozen pearl onions
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 4 cups sliced carrots (8 medium)
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) stewed tomatoes, undrained
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Combine flour, salt, paprika, and pepper in a medium bowl. Add steak and coat evenly. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the steak on all sides, reserving the remaining flour mixture. Transfer the steak to an ungreased 2 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil along with the mushrooms, onions, and garlic. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until they are nicely browned. Transfer this mixture to the casserole dish. Then, add the carrots, tomatoes, and reserved flour mixture, and mix everything well together.
  • Cover the casserole and bake for 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, or until the meat and vegetables are tender when pierced with a fork.
