Whip up a Texan steak with crispy onion rings for the perfect American feast.
Ingredients:
  • 4 x 250g beef porterhouse steaks
  • 60ml basting sauce
  • 2 large brown onions, thickly sliced into rings
  • Extra vegetable oil, for frying
  • 45g rice flour
  • 75g plain flour
  • 2.50 gm smoked paprika
  • 180ml soda
  • 600g tub Brand mashed potato
  • 400g green beans, steamed
Instructions:
  • In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, heat oil. Season steaks, cook for 2 minutes each side, basting with sauce, until cooked to your liking. Transfer to a heatproof plate and let rest, covered, for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Prepare the onion rings. Heat oil in a medium frying pan over medium-high heat. In a medium bowl, mix together flours, paprika, and soda water. Season the batter. Coat the onion rings with the batter and fry for about 2 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  • Prepare the mashed potatoes according to package directions. Serve the steaks, mashed potatoes, and green beans on individual plates. Garnish with crispy onion rings on top.
