Tangy tomatillo salsa with spicy chiles and cilantro, great for enchiladas, dipping, or enhancing tacos with a zesty kick.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound tomatillos, husked
  • 0.5 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 serrano chile pepper, minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt, or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 cups water
Instructions:
  • Prepare all your ingredients.
  • In a large saucepan, combine tomatillos, onion, chile pepper, and garlic. Season with cilantro, oregano, salt, and cumin. Add water and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until tomatillos are soft, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • In batches, blend the tomatillo mixture until smooth in a blender. Adjust salsa verde thickness by adding cooking water to achieve your preferred consistency.
  • Garnish with crispy tortilla chips for a satisfying crunch.
