Creamy red vodka sauce with Italian herbs, a delightful match for pasta.
Ingredients:
  • 4 teaspoons olive oil
  • 0.75 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vodka
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can Italian-style diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1.5 teaspoons dried basil
  • 0.25 teaspoon white sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.33333334326744 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup butter, melted
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, sauté garlic in olive oil until fragrant, for about 1 minute. Pour in vodka, bring to a simmer, and cook until mostly evaporated, around 10 minutes.
  • Combine tomatoes, fresh basil, a hint of sugar, fragrant oregano, a pinch of salt, and a dash of pepper with minced garlic and a splash of vodka in a saucepan. Bring to a vigorous boil and simmer until the liquid reduces, approximately 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Combine the milk and butter in a bowl until smooth; stir into the tomato sauce until the color is uniform.
  • In a saucepan over gentle heat, gently simmer the sauce until it thickens slightly, which should take around 5 minutes.
