Whip up our zesty tuna patties with canned tuna, mustard, and lemon for a quick, budget-friendly meal that will satisfy your cravings in no time. Your family will be begging for more!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cans tuna (5 to 6 ounce cans)
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup white bread torn into small pieces
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon water (or liquid from the cans of tuna)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives, green onions, or shallots
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • A couple squirts of Crystal hot sauce or tabasco
  • 1 raw egg
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter
Instructions:
  • Separate the tuna: Remove the liquid from the tuna cans. For tuna packed in water, save a tablespoon of the water and mix with a teaspoon of olive oil in the following step.
  • Prepare the tuna mixture by mixing tuna, mustard, torn white bread, lemon zest, lemon juice, water, parsley, chives, hot sauce, salt, and freshly ground black pepper in a bowl. Adjust seasoning to taste before adding the egg, then stir in the egg.
  • Shape the mixture into 4 patties, then refrigerate on a wax paper-lined tray for an hour. (Chilling is optional for time-saving purposes, but recommended for better patty consistency.)
  • Heat olive oil and a knob of butter in a skillet on medium-high heat. Cook patties until golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes per side. Serve with lemon wedges or tartar sauce on slider buns for a delicious tuna burger. If you enjoyed the recipe, please leave a review!
