Elevate pizza night with personal upside-down pizza pot pies - a delicious twist on the classic dish, sure to wow your loved ones.
Ingredients:
  • cooking spray
  • 1 pound Italian sausage links, casings removed
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 0.5 cup sliced fresh mushrooms, or more to taste
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent roll dough (such as Pillsbury®)
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and generously grease the insides of 4 ramekins.
  • 1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown and crumble sausage until cooked through, about 5 to 10 minutes; drain any excess grease. Add onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms; sauté until vegetables are softened, about 2 to 3 minutes. Mix in pizza sauce and simmer to blend flavors, about 5 to 10 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese into the sausage mixture.
  • Divide the sausage mixture evenly among the ramekins, then sprinkle each with a generous amount of mozzarella cheese.
  • Roll out the crescent dough and cut it into 4 equal pieces. Use a piece of dough to cover each ramekin, making sure to wrap the dough around the edges to seal in the filling. Place the pot pies on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the dough is light golden brown. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
