Whip up homemade pulled taffy with sugar, vinegar, butter, cream of tartar, and salt. Invite friends to help for a fun taffy-pulling party!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cup vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 0.125 teaspoon cream of tartar
Instructions:
  • Prepare a baking dish by generously coating it with butter, then set it aside.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, mix together sugar, vinegar, butter, cream of tartar, and salt. Stir occasionally until sugar is dissolved. Avoid stirring once mixture begins to boil.
  • Heat candy mixture to precise temperature of 250 to 265 degrees F (121 to 129 degrees C) using a candy thermometer, or until a small amount solidifies into a ball when dropped into cold water. Pour into dish once ready.
  • Stretch taffy into a rope with buttered hands, folding and repeating until white and porous. Cut into 1-inch pieces using buttered kitchen shears. Wrap in waxed paper and store in an airtight container.
