Indulge in rich double chocolate whole wheat brownies studded with nuts and chocolate chips.
Ingredients:
  • 4 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 0.75 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
  • Melt chocolate and butter together in a double boiler over simmering water. Stir occasionally, making sure to scrape the sides with a rubber spatula to prevent burning, until smooth, about 5 minutes. Let it cool for 5 minutes before using.
  • In a big bowl, mix together sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and creamy using an electric mixer. Add cooled melted chocolate and stir well. Gently fold in flour, then mix in chocolate chips and walnuts. Pour batter into the baking pan and spread evenly.
  • Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 28 minutes until the top is dry and the edges have begun to pull away from the sides of the pan. Allow it to cool completely before slicing into bars.
