Easy and quick Italian custard dessert with fall fruits.
Ingredients:
  • 4 Land O’Lakes® cage-free all-natural eggs
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sweet Marsala wine
  • 1 cup frozen (thawed) cranberries
  • 2 pears, coarsely chopped
Instructions:
  • In a small saucepan, bring 2 to 3 inches of water to a gentle simmer over medium-high heat. Separate the eggs, keeping the yolks for this recipe and saving the whites for later.
  • In a spacious metal or heat-resistant glass bowl, whisk together egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla vigorously for about 2 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy.
  • Place bowl on top of the simmering water in the saucepan, ensuring the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Keep beating the mixture vigorously for 1 to 2 minutes until it begins to thicken. Slowly add the wine while whisking continuously for 5 to 7 minutes, being careful not to let it boil, until the custard becomes pale yellow, doubles in volume, and thickens. Remove from heat.
  • Divide the fruit equally into 4 small bowls, then generously spoon warm custard on top before serving.
