Maple fried chicken: succulent thighs soaked in garlicky buttermilk-maple syrup, air-fried for a sweet and savory crunch.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 4 skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup tapioca flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon granulated onion
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 0.5 teaspoon honey powder (such as Savory Spice®)
Instructions:
  • In a large resealable plastic bag, mix together buttermilk, maple syrup, egg, and granulated garlic. Add chicken thighs, seal the bag tightly, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  • Mix together the flour, tapioca flour, salt, sweet paprika, smoked paprika, granulated onion, black pepper, cayenne pepper, granulated garlic, and honey powder in a shallow bowl to create the dry mix.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees F (190 degrees C) for perfectly cooked results.
  • Remove and discard marinade from chicken thighs. Coat chicken with dry mix, shaking off any extra. Arrange chicken in the air fryer basket skin-side down.
  • Air fry the thighs in the preheated air fryer for a total of 25 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches at least 165°F (74°C).
