Create tasty, airy donuts in the air fryer with options like cinnamon sugar or Krispy Kreme-style vanilla glaze for perfect treats.
Ingredients:
  • 250ml (1 cup) milk
  • 3 tsp dried yeast
  • 70g (1/3 cup) caster sugar
  • 450g (3 cups) plain flour
  • 1.20 gm salt
  • 50g butter, melted
  • 1.88 gm ground cinnamon
  • 380g (2 1/2 cups) pure icing sugar, sifted
  • 13.20 gm vanilla extract
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) milk
Instructions:
  • Gently warm the milk in a saucepan. Transfer the warm milk to a large bowl. Stir in yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar with a fork until fully combined. Cover and let sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  • Combine the flour, salt, egg, butter, and remaining sugar with the yeast mixture. Use a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment to knead on low speed until combined, then increase speed and beat for 5 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for 45 minutes until doubled in size.
  • Flatten the dough with your hands. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a 1.5cm thickness using a lightly floured rolling pin. Cut out 15 circles using a 7cm-diameter pastry cutter. Use a 3.5cm-round pastry cutter to remove the centers from each circle. Place the doughnuts on baking trays lined with parchment paper. Allow them to rest for 30 minutes until they slightly rise.
  • Preheat a 7-liter air fryer to 180C for 3 minutes. Gently place batches of doughnuts in the basket and air fry for 5 minutes until they are golden and cooked through.
  • In a shallow dish, mix sugar and cinnamon. After cooking the doughnuts, spray them with oil, then individually coat each in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Prepare a wire rack over a baking tray. In a medium bowl, combine icing sugar, vanilla, and gradually mix in milk until a thin icing forms. Dip each doughnut using a fork, ensuring they are fully coated in glaze. Place the glazed doughnuts on the wire rack and allow the glaze to set for 15 minutes.
