Airfried fluted pastry tarts spread with creamy French onion mixture and topped with a cracked egg for a delicious finish.
Ingredients:
  • 2 sheets shortcrust pastry, just thawed
  • 1 small brown onion, thinly sliced
  • 75g cream cheese
  • 37.60 gm sour cream
  • 25g (¼ cup) grated cheddar
  • 3 large eggs
  • Chopped fresh chives, to serve (optional)
Instructions:
  • Grease two 11.5cm fluted tartlet tins with a touch of oil.
  • Lay one pastry sheet on a floured surface, top with the other sheet, sprinkle with flour, and roll out to 3mm thick. Cut in half diagonally. Gently fit one half into a tart tin, repeat with the other half. Trim excess pastry. Line cases with baking paper, fill with weights or rice. Air fry at 200C for 6 minutes, then remove paper and weights, and air fry for another 2 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook onion, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes until golden and caramelized. Allow to cool slightly.
  • In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar, and 1 egg. Add the onion and stir well. Season the mixture. Divide it evenly among the tart cases. Create a small well in the center of each tart and crack an egg into each well. Season with pepper.
  • Air fry at 170C for 10-12 minutes until just cooked. Let it cool in the air fryer for 5 minutes or until the egg reaches desired doneness.
  • Garnish with chives, if desired.
