Enjoy guilt-free, crispy Indian bhaji made in an air fryer.
Ingredients:
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin
  • 0.66666668653488 cup chickpea flour (besan)
  • 4 tablespoons water, or as needed
  • cooking spray
Instructions:
  • Combine red onion, yellow onion, salt, jalapeno, garlic, coriander, chili powder, turmeric, and cumin in a large bowl until evenly mixed. Mix in chickpea flour and water to form a thick batter. Rest mixture for 10 minutes before proceeding. Add extra water, if needed.
  • Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Give the air fryer basket a light coating of nonstick cooking spray. Drop 2 tablespoons of batter into the basket and press down gently to flatten. Continue until the basket is full, making sure the bhajis do not touch.
  • Preheat the air fryer while you mist each bhaji with cooking spray on top. Cook for 6 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 6 minutes. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels and repeat with the rest of the batter.
