Crispy air fryer popcorn chicken seasoned with flavorful herbs and spices, ready in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground thyme
  • 0.125 teaspoon dried basil
  • 0.125 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.125 teaspoon dried sage
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • cooking spray (such as Misto®)
Instructions:
  • Transfer the chicken to a medium-sized bowl.
  • In a small bowl, mix together salt, paprika, black pepper, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, basil, oregano, and sage. Set aside 1 teaspoon of the mixture. Sprinkle the rest over the chicken and toss to evenly coat.
  • In a large resealable plastic bag, mix cornstarch with 1 teaspoon of reserved seasoning. Add chicken, seal the bag, and shake well to coat. Transfer chicken to a fine mesh strainer, shake off excess cornstarch, and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes to absorb.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees F (200 degrees C) and grease the basket with cooking spray.
  • Place the chicken in a single layer in the basket, ensuring there is no overlapping. You may need to work in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer. Lightly coat the chicken with cooking spray.
  • Air fry the chicken for 4 minutes, then shake the basket, spray the chicken with cooking spray, and cook for an additional 4 to 5 minutes until no longer pink inside and juices run clear. Ensure internal temperature reaches at least 165°F (74°C) using a thermometer.
