Crunchy candy bars with almond, coconut, and chocolate - a decadent dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 1/2 cups coconut
  • 3/4 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 36 whole almonds
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 13x9-inch pan with foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray. In a small saucepan, melt 1 cup of chocolate chips and 1/4 cup of butter over low heat, stirring occasionally. Mix in the cookie crumbs. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared pan. Chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes or until set.
  • In a large bowl, whip egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. Mix in vanilla and almond extract until well combined. Fold in coconut and flour until fully incorporated.
  • Evenly layer the filling over the base, then elegantly arrange the almonds in neat rows of 6 by 6 on top of the bars.
  • Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and firm in the center when touched.
  • Combine glaze ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the bars. Allow to cool for at least 4 hours or until set. Cut into bars.
