Amish-style peach dumplings: Flour dumplings simmered in sweet buttery syrup with fresh peaches for a delectable dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cups sliced peeled peaches
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
Instructions:
  • Combine water, sugar, and butter in a pot over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves and mixture becomes syrupy, about 5 to 10 minutes. Stir in peaches and bring to a boil.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl, whisk ingredients together. Stir in milk until a stiff batter forms.
  • Spoon generous dollops of batter into bubbling peach syrup. Cover, simmer over medium heat, and cook until a toothpick inserted in the center of the dumplings comes out clean, approximately 20 minutes.
