Apple Crumble with Toasted-Oat Topping

Quick and easy dessert recipe from Prevention Healthy Cooking. Ideal for baking lovers!
Ingredients:
  • 6 medium Jonagold or Golden Delicious apples, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 3 tablespoons toasted wheat germ
  • 3 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350° F and generously grease a 13 x 9 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Mix the apples and applesauce in the baking dish.
  • Combine oats, wheat germ, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Add oil and butter, then use your fingers to create a crumbly mixture. Sprinkle evenly over the apples.
  • Bake until the topping turns golden and the apples start bubbling, about 30 minutes.
