Apple walnut brownies: A gourmet twist on classic chocolate brownies.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup sifted cake flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup finely chopped apples
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a cozy 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease an 8-inch square cake pan.
  • Combine butter and chocolate in a double boiler over simmering water. Stir often and use a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides to prevent scorching.
  • Whisk eggs in a bowl until pale and lemon-colored; gradually incorporate sugar. Mix chocolate mixture into eggs and vigorously beat for 1 minute.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and whisk together. Add this mixture to the chocolate mixture and stir until combined. Next, mix in walnuts, apples, and vanilla extract until the batter is well combined. Spoon the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake the brownies in the heated oven until they are firm, for approximately 40 minutes.
