Sweet and tangy BBQ sauce enhanced with applesauce and maple syrup for a delicious twist on grilled or roasted meats.
Ingredients:
  • 0.33 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 0.33 cup real maple syrup
  • 0.25 cup molasses
  • 0.25 cup bacon fat
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 cup apple cider
Instructions:
  • Combine ketchup, brown sugar, applesauce, maple syrup, molasses, bacon fat, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, allspice, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, and nutmeg in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat until well mixed. Bring to a boil, then simmer for at least 1 hour. Add apple cider for a thinner sauce, if desired.
  • Take the pan off the stove and allow it to cool for approximately 15 minutes.
  • Carefully transfer the BBQ sauce into a pristine 32-ounce bottle or container using a funnel. Close tightly and refrigerate for freshness for up to one week.
