Elevate budget-friendly pork sausages with maple, apple, and sage for a gourmet BBQ favorite.
Ingredients:
  • 4 large (about 400g) pork sausages
  • 54.00 gm maple syrup
  • 23.40 gm wholegrain mustard
  • 2 granny smith apples, cored, cut into wedges
  • 30g butter
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1/2 red cabbage, finely shredded
  • 80ml apple cider
  • 55g walnut
  • Sage leaves, torn, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook the sausages, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown, about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, mix the maple syrup and mustard in a small bowl. Add the apples to the pan and drizzle the maple syrup mixture over them. Continue cooking and turning everything for about 5 minutes until the apples caramelize and the sausages are fully cooked. Transfer the delicious mixture to a plate.
  • Begin by melting the butter in a pan over medium heat. Toss in the onion and garlic, cooking and stirring occasionally for 5 minutes until the onion softens. Next, add the cabbage and cook until wilted, for about 2-3 minutes. Stir in the cider and walnuts, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce reduces. Re-introduce the sausages and apples to the pan to heat through. Lastly, remove from heat, season with salt and pepper to taste, and enjoy your delicious dish.
  • Plate the cabbage evenly among individual serving plates. Arrange the sausages and apple on top, then sprinkle with fragrant sage. Serve promptly.
