Crispy cinnamon sugar fried apple slices, a delightful Israeli breakfast treat shared by a dear friend. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
  • 4 large Granny smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced into 1/2 inch thick rings
  • 0.66666668653488 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 0.33333334326744 cup milk
  • 4 cups oil for frying, or as needed
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
Instructions:
  • Combine flour and salt in a shallow bowl. Add eggs, 1 tablespoon of oil, milk, and water. Mix until smooth. The batter should cling to the apples without being too thick. If needed, add more flour for thickness. If batter doesn't stick, dust apples with additional flour.
  • In a deep heavy skillet, warm one inch of vegetable oil until it reaches 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Dip apple slices in batter, then fry 4 or 5 slices at a time in hot oil until golden and crispy on both sides. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before serving.
