Upgrade your side dish with tasty Bac~Os® for a twist on the classic bacon version. Perfect for stuffing too!
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon reduced-fat margarine-type product
  • 1 cup uncooked wild rice
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms (4 ounces)
  • 2 medium green onions, thinly sliced (2 tablespoons)
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup bacon flavor bits or chips
Instructions:
  • Heat margarine in a 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat. Saute wild rice, mushrooms, and onions in the margarine for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are tender.
  • Combine water, salt, and pepper in a pot and stir well. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally, then reduce the heat.
  • Simmer uncovered for 40 to 50 minutes until the rice is tender, then drain if needed. Mix in crispy bacon bits.
