Try these delicious breakfast bacon bombs made with leftover bread. Perfect for a quick on-the-go breakfast or as a tasty side dish for eggs, hash browns, pancakes, or waffles.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 3 slices stale bread, cut into cubes
  • 0.25 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 8 slices bacon
  • toothpicks
  • 1 tablespoon bacon drippings
Instructions:
  • In a skillet over gentle heat, melt the butter then sauté the onion until it becomes soft and translucent, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Combine bread cubes, Cheddar cheese, egg, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper in a bowl. Shape mixture into 8 equal-sized balls and wrap each with a slice of bacon, securing with toothpicks.
  • Clean the skillet and heat bacon drippings over medium heat. Fry bacon balls in the skillet, rolling them constantly until crispy, about 15-18 minutes.
