Delicious roasted cabbage steaks with bacon and brown sugar.
Ingredients:
  • cooking spray
  • 1 (2 pound) green cabbage
  • 2 large garlic cloves, or more to taste, smashed
  • 1.5 tablespoons olive oil
  • kosher salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 pound bacon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C), then give your baking sheet a nice spritz with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Peel outer leaf from cabbage and slice into 1-inch thick steaks. Arrange on baking sheet. Massage smashed garlic into both sides of cabbage steaks. Brush both sides with olive oil using a pastry brush. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Roast the cabbage steaks in the middle of the preheated oven for 30 minutes, then carefully flip them. Top each steak with 1 to 2 bacon slices and sprinkle brown sugar over them. Continue roasting until the cabbage is tender and the bacon is crisp, about 30 more minutes.
