Deliciously sweet and tangy appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans whole water chestnuts, drained
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1.25 cups soy sauce
  • 24 slices thick sliced bacon, cut in half
  • 1 (15 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained
  • toothpicks
  • 1 cup brown sugar
Instructions:
  • Combine the water chestnuts, garlic powder, and soy sauce in a small bowl, allowing them to marinate for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Pat dry the water chestnuts and ditch the soy sauce. Sandwich a pineapple chunk in each bacon strip, then top it with a water chestnut. Fold the bacon over the chestnut, securing it with a toothpick. Repeat with the rest of the ingredients. Toss the bacon wraps with brown sugar, then lay them on the baking sheet.
  • Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes. Flip the pieces over and bake for an additional 15 to 35 minutes, until the bacon reaches your preferred level of crispiness. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate briefly before serving hot.
