Easy apple dumplings: Mix dough in food processor or by hand. Fill apples with brown sugar, wrap in dough squares, and seal with egg white. Bake until tender.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons cold water
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 7 apples -- peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 egg white, beaten
  • 1.5 tablespoons white sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and generously grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • For Dough: In a food processor, blend flour and salt. Add 3/4 cup of butter and pulse until combined. Slowly add water, pulsing until dough forms. Shape dough into a ball, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes or up to 1 day.
  • For the filling: Cream together the remaining 1/4 cup of butter and brown sugar in a large bowl, then mix in the chopped apples.
  • Roll dough into a 12x18 inch rectangle. Spread filling on top, then roll up tightly. Cut into 2 inch pieces and arrange in baking dish. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with sugar before baking.
  • Place in a preheated oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes until the dough turns a golden brown color. Allow it to rest for 15 minutes before serving.
