Slow-cooked baked beans with savory beef and crispy bacon, perfect for potlucks!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 pound peppered bacon
  • 7 (28 ounce) cans baked beans (such as Bush's® Original)
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can light red kidney beans, drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can dark red kidney beans, drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can great northern beans, drained
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup prepared yellow mustard
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
Instructions:
  • Preheat a generous skillet over medium-high heat. Toss in ground beef and onion. Sauté until beef is nicely browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain any excess grease. Transfer the cooked beef to the slow cooker.
  • Cook bacon on the skillet over medium-high heat until crispy, about 10 minutes. Drain on paper towels, crumble into small pieces, and add to the slow cooker.
  • Combine baked beans, black beans, light and dark kidney beans, great northern beans, sugar, mustard, and soy sauce in the slow cooker, and blend them thoroughly with the beef and bacon.
  • Simmer over a gentle heat for 4 hours to enhance the flavors.
