Indulgent baked mac and cheese with creamy Cheddar sauce and crispy buttery cracker topping - a guaranteed weeknight favorite!
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 cups elbow macaroni
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 pound shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 0.25 cup butter, melted
  • 1 sleeve buttery round crackers, crushed
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add elbow macaroni and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain thoroughly.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 1/4 cup of butter. Add flour and salt, stirring constantly, and cook for 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk and simmer, stirring frequently, until the mixture slightly thickens, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and gently fold in the Cheddar cheese until it's completely melted. Combine the macaroni with the cheese sauce until evenly coated, then transfer everything into a 9x13-inch baking dish. Mix the remaining melted butter with crushed crackers in a bowl, then sprinkle this mixture evenly over the macaroni.
  • Bake until the top turns a beautiful golden brown, approximately 45 minutes in the preheated oven.
