Effortless slow cooker BBQ pulled chicken, versatile for sandwiches, tacos, or baked potatoes.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups canned tomato sauce
  • 1.5 cups ketchup
  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 0.25 cup Sriracha sauce, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder, or to taste
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • 1 (4 pound) whole chicken
Instructions:
  • Coat a large slow cooker with cooking spray. Combine tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, cider vinegar, Sriracha, garlic powder, and pepper flakes, stirring until fully mixed.
  • Prepare the chicken by cleaning it and tying the legs. Place it in the slow cooker and toss it in the sauce until evenly coated.
  • Cook the dish on Low for 5 to 7 hours, or on High for 3 to 4 hours. Periodically ladle the sauce over the chicken to keep it juicy. Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) using an instant-read thermometer placed in the thickest part of the thigh near the bone.
  • Transfer the tender chicken to a bowl, shred it, and discard any bones. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and mix it well with the delicious sauce.
