Brats simmered in beer with onions and spices, then grilled for a crispy finish. Deliciously flavorful and charred.
Ingredients:
  • 4 (12 ounce) cans beer
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 10 bratwurst
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions:
  • Assemble your ingredients.
  • In a large pot, let the beer and onion slices mingle and bubble up to a lively boil.
  • Combine bratwurst, pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper with the beer and onion mixture. Simmer over medium heat for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate.
  • Place the bratwurst on a plate, then lower the heat and allow the onions to simmer until ready to use.
  • Grill the bratwurst until they develop char marks and are no longer pink in the middle, about 5 to 10 minutes. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure they reach at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
  • Serve the bratwurst garnished with sautéed onions.
