Irresistible big mac casserole with seasoned beef, gooey cheese, creamy mayo, and crispy hash browns for a burger-inspired dish.
Ingredients:
  • 8 frozen hash brown patties
  • 1 onion
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons Kosher salt, divided
  • 2 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 2 teaspoons white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1.25 lb. ground sirloin
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoon Worcestershire
  • 8 ounces block Cheddar cheese, grated, divided
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 3 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
  • ½ cup hamburger dill pickle slices, roughlychopped
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Arrange hash brown patties in a single layer in a 9x13 baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes until the bottom is golden and crisp.
  • Grate or finely mince 2 tablespoons of onion, including any juices. Dice the rest of the onion. Set both aside.
  • Mix grated onion with mayonnaise, 1/2 teaspoon salt, sweet pickle relish, white vinegar, sugar, mustard, paprika, and onion powder in a bowl until well combined. Set aside while hash browns bake.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil. Add beef and cook without stirring for 3 minutes. Break up the meat with a spoon and stir occasionally, cooking until browned and mostly cooked through, about 5 minutes. Season with remaining salt, pepper, Worcestershire, and onions. Cook for 1 more minute. Remove from heat and stir in 2/3 cup of the sauce mixture and 1 1/3 cup cheese.
  • **Flipping hashbrown patties to reveal their crispy tops, pour meat mixture on top and sprinkle with remaining shredded cheese, sesame seeds. Bake until bubbly and cheese is melted, about 10-12 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.**
  • Sprinkle shredded lettuce over the dish and generously drizzle with the remaining sauce. Garnish with chopped pickles and serve promptly.
