Easy bourbon baked beans with bacon, brown sugar, bourbon, Dr Pepper, and pork baked beans - perfect for parties.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (12 fl oz) can caffeinated pepper-type soda (such as Dr Pepper®)
  • 0.75 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 0.25 cup bourbon
  • 2 (16 ounce) cans baked beans with pork
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine brown sugar, paprika, mustard, and cayenne pepper in a bowl, then stir in pepper soda, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce until the brown sugar is fully dissolved.
  • Slice 4 strips of bacon into small pieces. Sauté in a large Dutch oven over medium heat until nearly crisp, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from the pot and save the bacon grease in a bowl.
  • Combine the onion with the bacon grease in the Dutch oven and cook until soft, about 3 to 5 minutes. Introduce the garlic and cook for another minute. Then, pour in the bourbon, stirring to deglaze the bottom of the pot. Lastly, mix the bacon strips back in.
  • Combine the brown sugar mixture with the baked beans in the Dutch oven and heat for 15 minutes until beans are warmed through. Place the last 4 slices of bacon on top of the beans.
  • Cook the dish in the hot oven with a cover until the beans are bubbling and the sauce has thickened, approximately 2½ to 3 hours.
