Classic bread pudding, a beloved family recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 10 slices white bread, cut into cubes
  • 0.25 cup margarine, melted
  • 0.5 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 eggs
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups hot milk
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Mix together bread cubes, melted margarine, sweet raisins, and aromatic cinnamon in a large bowl until well combined. Transfer to a 2-quart baking dish.
  • - In the same bowl used for beating the eggs, combine sugar, vanilla, and salt until sugar is dissolved. - Gradually whisk in the hot milk. - Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, sprinkle with nutmeg, and let it soak for 5 minutes.
  • Bake in the oven until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, approximately 25 to 30 minutes.
