Indulgent cake with Betty Crocker® frosting and gooey caramel pockets.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ White Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and egg whites called for on cake mix box
  • 3/4 cup caramel topping
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting
  • 2 small red apples, cut into total of 12 wedges
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1/4 cup caramel topping
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan).
  • Prepare the cake following the instructions on the box for a 13x9-inch pan. Allow it to cool for 15 minutes. Use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes halfway into the cake every 2 inches. Evenly pour 3/4 cup of caramel topping over the holes. Let it cool completely for about 1 hour. Spread frosting evenly over the cake.
  • Prevent browning by dipping cut edges of apple wedges in orange juice, then gently pat dry. Coat uncut edges with 1/4 cup caramel topping and roll in nuts. Chill in the fridge. Before serving, top each slice of cake with an apple wedge. Store leftover apple wedges covered in the fridge.
